A Werewolf in Bangkok

How to Play

  1. 7:00pm
Guests arrive—soak in the atmosphere and relax over a craft beer, a cocktail, or a steak dinner before the game starts. Register with the host and collect your envelope. Inside, you’ll find full written instructions, a name card, and any props you may need. At any time, you can ask the host for guidance, but be discreet—you may give away your identity.
  2. 7:30pm
The game begins. The host will give full instructions to everyone. Take this time to mingle with the village. Background music will help mask conversations.
  3. 7:50pm
After all characters have made their move, it’s time for the werewolf to make their first bite. All villagers must return to their tents. If the werewolf chooses you, you become a werewolf; your previous character is disregarded. The only way you can die is by being voted out by the village. The werewolf can recruit a maximum of 3 villagers. Once there are 3 werewolves in the village, a bite will kill you.
  4. 8:00pm
It’s time to vote someone out. Write a name on a piece of paper and place it in the bowl. The host will count the votes and the villager with the most votes will be placed on trial. The accused will have one opportunity to persuade the village to keep them in. The villagers will decide if they stay or go.
  5. After 8:00pm
The werewolves make one kill each round. Special characters have the opportunity to use their powers to protect, reveal, or heal.
  6. The game concludes when:
The werewolves are eliminated by the village — Villagers win
There are no villagers left — Werewolves win
1 villager and 1 werewolf left — Draw
The game ends at 9:00pm — Host's decision

The Characters

Werewolf

Bites one person when instructed. Can recruit up to three other werewolves. The werewolf’s aim is to eliminate the entire village.

Seer

Each night, the Seer wakes and writes the name of a person on the board. The host will reveal that person’s character.

Village Idiot

A powerful role that should not be underestimated. Each night, the Village Idiot leaves the tent to write “Yes” or “No” on a whiteboard. When the next person is on trial, only the Village Idiot’s vote counts.

Hunter

If eliminated, the Hunter shoots another player. At the beginning of the game, the Hunter may leave their tent and write on a whiteboard the name of one person they will kill. If the Hunter is killed, the person on the whiteboard dies. This information is visible to the entire village.

Bodyguard

The Bodyguard can protect one character per night. Protection lasts for one round only and applies against werewolf bites and being voted out. The Bodyguard leaves their tent at night to write a villager’s name on a whiteboard. If your name is on the whiteboard, you are protected.

Hard Nut

You get two lives: one against the werewolves. If the werewolves bite you, your character is revealed. You are NOT protected against being voted out by the villagers.

Prince / Princess

You get two lives. You are protected if the werewolves bite you or if the villagers vote you out. The host will reveal your identity.

Cupid

Cupid matches two villagers who will fall in love. If one dies, the other dies. One protection covers both lovers.

Mayor

The Mayor gets two votes. You can vote when the other villagers vote, and you’ll be given an additional piece of coloured paper to cast your extra vote.

Witch

Each night, the Witch may leave their tent. They can kill or heal any member of the village by erasing names on the publicly displayed whiteboards.

Drunk

The Drunk can leave the tent at night and change the names on any whiteboard.

Thief

At any point in the game, the Thief can steal the identity of another player.

Villager

You have no powers. Persuade others to protect you. You may turn into a werewolf if the werewolf chooses you. The host may ask you to adopt other people’s powers.

About the Bar

We’ve teamed up with the Radicle Beer Company in On Nut. Expect a spacious, air-conditioned venue with top-quality craft beer and cocktails. Food is available on the night, and you may take beer and snacks back to your tent without judgement.

The Radicle Beer Company is listed on Grab and Bolt; the nearest BTS is On Nut. Look past 7-Eleven and you’ll see the large, industrial-looking brewery. Parking outside is easy, with a high probability of finding a space near the bar.

About the Crew

Expect a unique experience with immersive sound and lighting experience to replicate day and night during the game. We are a non-profit event, reinvesting all proceeds into new props and equipment. We’re part of the local stand-up comedy scene, and our hosts have run stand-up shows for at least two years. We're basically saying, we all have day jobs but we love bringing people together through fun, well-organised social activities. We always welcome honest feedback so we can keep improving. Please do let us know over a beer.

Important

We want all guests to have fun.
Please don’t take anything personally—it’s all part of the game.
Do not spoil the game for others if you are eliminated.
Because it’s a social game, please stick around afterwards for a beer.
